Transport chaos expected to continue on Monday

Sydney commuters could experience transport chaos again next week as rail line changes and industrial action continues.

Channel Nine reporter Chris O’Keefe tells Chris Kenny commuters should expect long delays similar to those experienced this week.

“Hornsby junction where all this work is taking place is going to open for the first time on Monday.

“The problem is when they commission the rail line on Monday, they’re going to need double the amount of staff to train the drivers because it’s all been realigned.”

Industrial action is also expected in the coming days, as workers push for pay increases.

“It’s likely the Rail, Tram and Bus Union and [the other] unions will do some sort of action. They’ll spend the weekend trying to figure out what that is.

“Brace yourselves on Monday. If you’re catching a train in Sydney get there early.”
