Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles has refused in a fiery interview with James Wilis to admit he and the Government got it wrong on a royal commission into the Bondi Terror Attack.

Marles says they waited to announce the Royal Commission into the Bondi Terror Attack to avoid delaying necessary steps.

2GB Summer Breakfast host James Willis pointed out Marles had said a royal commission was not a good idea in three separate media interviews just days before Christmas.

“So have you backflipped on this, or were you misleading people by trying to suggest that these things take too long?” he questioned.

“Your job is to keep us safe, that has not changed. I’m asking you about what you said publicly on Nine, Sky and the ABC on the 23rd of December,” he added.
