Tourism Minister won’t rule out early freedoms for Sydneysiders

Joe Hildebrand

The NSW Tourism Minister hasn’t ruled out freedoms being announced sooner than the 70 per cent target.

October 11, the Monday after the state hits its 70 per cent target, is firming up as the date NSW lifts stay-at-home restrictions for fully vaccinated people.

NSW Tourism Minister Stuart Ayres wouldn’t rule out granting specific freedoms before then.

“If the vaccination rate keeps rising at speed, and we get there early, I think the government is always going to consider whether there are adjustments that it can make to make that transition a little bit smoother,” he told Joe Hildebrand.
