A toddler is lucky to be alive after allegedly being left in a parked bus for six hours yesterday.

Police were called to the Yass Little Learners child care centre just after 3pm, after a young boy was found strapped into a child seat inside the vehicle.

The two-year-old was treated at the scene for dehydration before being taken to Yass Hospital for further observation.

Temperatures in the area reached 28 degrees on Wednesday but are forecast to hit 32 today.

In a statement on Facebook, the child care centre confirmed the incident took place on its bus, saying the driver has been “suspended pending a full investigation”.

Police are conducting inquiries and will report to Family and Community Services.

The centre posted a job ad last month saying, “BUS DRIVER NEEDED”, and then confirmed “The position is now filled”, just two weeks ago.
