Thrash It Out: Do we need to start paying apprentices the actual minimum wage?
Apprentices face a tough entry to the workforce, often earning $10 less than the minimum hourly wage, and it’s led to a lively discussion on 2GB Drive’s Thrash It Out as more apprentices drop out.
Unions NSW Assistant Secretary Thomas Costa took up the argument in favour of raising the wage for apprentices, while the Master Builders Association says wages can’t be blamed for apprentices dropping out.
