‘This is an outrage’: Speed thresholds secretly lowered, catching out drivers

Ben Fordham

Sydneysiders are being fined for going just a few kilometres over the speed limit.

Listener Justin has been fined four times for travelling between three and seven kilometres over the limit in a 50km/h zone.

Drive.com.au National Motoring Editor Joshua Dowling told Ben Fordham the speed threshold was secretly lowered at the start of the year.

“This is an outrage.

“To pick people off for a few km over the limit is not about road safety, it’s clearly about getting the money in the bank.”

Transport for NSW told Ben Fordham Live they don’t comment on tolerance levels when contacted.
