This image of a bloodied police officer shows just how bad the ice epidemic is getting in this country.

The Daily Telegraph reports the policeman was responding to a domestic violence-related incident at Muswellbrook when he was pushed down the stairs.

It’s believed the attack was fuelled by the drug ice.

NSW Police Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys tells Ben Fordham the senior constable involved is “back in the workplace” after suffering his injuries six weeks ago.

“They’re dreadful injuries and everyone deserves to go home and not to a hospital after a day or a night’s work.

“We really do look forward to getting him back to doing what he loves, and that’s policing.”

When it comes to the drug ice, and its impact on regional communities, Mr Worboys says nowhere is immune from it.

“Everywhere I go – villages, towns, cities right across country New South Wales – there’s issues with the selling and consuming of ice and it’s a high priority for us.”
