Former Nine political editor, Chris Uhlmann, has left politics to release a children’s book with his brother Paul Uhlmann, who is a practicing artist.

Their children’s book is called ‘The Useless Tune’ and it’s about a magpie called Maggie, who wants to find a tree to call home and uses her gift of song to gain shelter.

“This book is about the need for intangible things, things like music, art and poetry which are the essence of life,” Chris told Joe Hildebrand.

“We were bush kids, so the colour and beauty of the Australian bush is something we wanted to put into this book,” said Paul.

The Useless Tune is now available to purchase.
