Minister for Police Troy Grant has been growing out his beard, and his parliamentary colleague and friend Anthony Roberts reveals why.

Mr Roberts tells Ray it’s to bring awareness and raise $50,000 for Police Legacy.

“Everyone would’ve noticed he’s been sporting some sort of awful hipster beard since Christmas.

“The good news is that beard is about to come off.

The Minister for Police is set to embark on the 2018 Police Legacy Kokoda Trek, and alongside him will be a group of six young men and women whose parents have died in the line of duty.

“Quite often politicians get belted.

“There are times where you’ve got politicians like Troy Grant who go out of his way to look after kids whose parents have died protecting the community.”

Ben Fordham speaks with the Minister for Police who says he’s been “working out”.

“There’s not a lot of hills in Dubbo. I’ve done my best,” he jokes.

“They’re going over to pay tribute to their loved that was lost in the force and pay service and sacrifice to the soldiers.

“As I grew my beard  I’ve had more Shane Jacobson doppelganger remarks than I care to remember.”
