The South Sydney Rabbitohs and hundreds of fans have gathered at Redfern Oval today to say farewell, as the club makes their move to The Heffron Centre.

Redfern Oval has been the home ground and training base for the Rabbitohs for decades, with a memorial service for John Sattler to be held there on April 21.

It’s “saddening but also exciting” for the club to make their move to the $58 million facility at Maroubra, sports reader Mike Pearsall told Joe Hildebrand.

“It really is the beating heart and soul of this club,” said Mike.

“You can sit at the café, have a cappuccino and watch Latrell Mitchell kick field goals.”
