Legendary musician Neil Diamond has announced he is retiring from touring after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

The American singer-songwriter has an affinity with Australia, having toured here repeatedly over the past 42 years.

Ross Greenwood speaks with Patrick Condon, the music promoter responsible for first bringing Neil Diamond ‘down under’, in 1976.

“I caught up with Neil most times when he came out here after the first tour. Gentle, nice man.

“After we finished the first tour Neil said, ‘that’s the best tour I’ve ever been on in my life, I’m coming back’.

“The crowds, the box office, the audience reception beyond anything. That sort of extraordinary environment.”
