We’re being reminded that knowing CPR can save lives, amid fears of more tragedies on our beaches in the current warm summer weather.

Two people died in separate drownings yesterday, and hundreds of people have been rescued after getting into trouble in the water since Christmas.

St John Ambulance volunteer and 2022 Senior Australian of the Year Val Dempsey has told John Stanley, it’s about having the skills to keep people alive until more help can arrive.

“CPR keeps people going until that help arrives.”
