Gone are the days of sucking the venom out of a snake bite, with only one first aid tip recommended for this summer.

The relentless rain might lead to a spike in snake sightings in new and unusual places.

Australian Reptile Park expert Billy Collett told Deborah Knight there’s only one way to treat a snake bite.

“Just a pressure bandage around the bite site three times, then up the limb … and off to hospital.”
