‘The cracks are appearing!’: Mark Levy on the struggling aged care sector

Mark Levy

Mark Levy says “the alarm bells are ringing throughout the aged care sector”.

Mark believes there is a high concern for people within the industry as “cracks” are starting to appear.

This is evident with Wesley Mission closing its remaining aged care homes in Sydney.

“Right now, more than 50% of aged care providers are operating at a loss, they’re losing an average of $28 per resident per day. In 2018 and 2019, providers were actually making money. Not a lot around $2 per bed per day. “But profits, no matter how small, have become a thing of the past,” Mark said.
