Sydney is about to get its nightlife back, albeit for only three months…
The NSW government will launch a three-month blitz allowing venues to wave outdated restrictions.
Racing Minister Paul Toole says some of the decade-old licencing rules are contributing to Sydney’s worsening nightlife crisis.
One condition can even prevent a hotel from hanging a disco ball.
Another only allows a venue to play folk music.
“It’s about cutting red tape, it’s about supporting those small businesses,” he tells Deborah Knight.
“It brings a little bit of a sensible outcome at the end of the day for these venues.”
