A NSW pub has been named Best Country Pub in Australia.

Beechwood Hotel, located near Port Macquarie, won Wotif.com’s people’s choice as part of the Uniquely Aussie Awards.

Owner Alistair Flower told Deborah Knight the pub is at the heart of the town.

“The pub is an extension of everyone’s lounge room.

“It’s a bit of a step back in time but you always know the beer’s cold and the staff are friendly.”
