Nothing says “Spring” more than birds.

We’ve been hearing stories of Magpies swooping on innocent bystanders, listeners have been hearing the voices of Koels looking for their mates, and even Brush Turkeys making themselves comfortable in the major cities.

Well, don’t let all of these encounters go to waste, because it’s National Bird Week, and BirdLife is encouraging us to take part in the Aussie Backyard Bird Count.

They’ve just hit their goal of 2 million, with some surprise sightings, including the Crested Pigeon, which has made its way into the top 10.

And plenty of listeners are getting into the spirit!

You can submit your count here.
