‘That’s my mum’s legacy’: Devastated daughter reacts to change to hospital visits

Ben Fordham Campaign

A woman denied the chance to be with her mother when she died is welcoming changes to strict visiting rules in NSW hospitals.

The change comes after 2GB listeners shared their devastating stories when they were prevented from seeing their dying loved ones.

The new rules will allow people to be by the side of a dying loved one in hospital, as well as those with a life-threatening condition.

Gayle’s mother died while she was still waiting for a visitor exemption to be approved, sparking public outcry.

She told Ben Fordham she “cried uncontrollably” when she heard the news.

“I’d like to be bold and think that’s my mum’s legacy.”
