Tens of thousands of homes to be forced onto the NBN

John Stanley

More than 63,0000 landline phone and internet services across the Sydney will be cut off and replaced by the NBN this week.

More than two million New South Wales homes and businesses have already made the switch but those who have chosen not to will be forcibly switched.

Starting from Friday, 63,190 existing landline phone and internet services will be shut off and replaced with the new network.

Associate Professor Mark Gregory says people with specialist equipment connected to their phone or internet services, particularly medical alert devices, need to take action as soon as possible.

“I recommend to people that they do it as soon as possible once you’ve been told that your area is NBN ready.”
