Telstra is upping the ante as it enters the mobile war, admitting it will drop 8,000 jobs over the next four years.

CEO Andy Penn tells Ross Greenwood “it’s a really difficult decision”.

“But it’s important for us to be open and transparent and authentic about that.”

He also says the telco will move to ditch excess data charges, saying he knows they’re a fee which “frustrates” customers.

“I’ve made a commitment that we will ultimately take it out of products and services.”
