Sydney Trains boss Matt Long has issued a directive to all staff across the rail network to remove TikTok from their government-issued devices by May 24th.

This move is in line with the NSW government’s mandate to manage the risks posed by the Chinese-owned app under their cybersecurity directives.

The message from Long highlights the importance of cybersecurity for all public servants, stating that it is “everybody’s responsibility” and that they all have an obligation to protect NSW government information. Consequently, all employees, including train guards and drivers, are required to comply with this directive and uninstall TikTok from their work devices within the specified two-week deadline.
