Sydney teacher charged over six-month relationship with student
A teacher has faced court today, charged with having a sexual relationship with a student at a high school in Sydney’s east.
Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad began investigating reports of a sexual relationship between a male teacher and a 17-year-old female student.
The 34-year-old is accused of having sex with the teen over a six-month period in 2018, at homes in Randwick and on the Central Coast.
The man was arrested at a Mascot cafe back in July with police keeping the case a secret until now.
Detectives executed a search warrant at the Central Coast property, seizing several electronic devices and personal items.
The teacher has been charged with 11 counts of sexual intercourse with person under care (between 17 years and under 18 years).
He has been out on strict conditional bail since July and was again today granted strict conditional bail.
The matter will return to court in October.
