Sydney restaurant snubs Melbourne Cup
A Sydney restaurant has taken a stand against the racing industry by holding an anti-Melbourne cup event.
After years of declining Melbourne Cup bookings, Bodhi Restaurant is hosting its second anti-Melbourne Cup event to aid sanctuaries for ex-racing horses.
A recent ABC investigation into the slaughtering of racehorses has thrown the industry under the spotlight and sparked public outrage.
But Rita Panahi tells Steve Price attacking the racing industry is not the solution.
“I’m not surprised by this because the activists will continue.
“If you actually enjoy racing, if you go to a racing event, you are smeared as someone who is unthinking and uncaring.
“This is just all about dividing the community.”
