Sydney ranked the most congested capital

Sydney’s morning peak hour traffic has earned the title of the most congested capital city in Australia.

The Australian Automobile Association’s report looked at the GPS data from tens of thousands of vehicles around the country to assess infrastructure.

The average speed in Sydney is 59.6km/h, 6km/h below the national average.

NRMA spokesperson Peter Khoury tells Luke Grant that although the data is not surprising, it does seem to be getting worse.

“We are falling behind in terms of getting the most out of the infrastructure we already have.

“We need decent roads and we need decent public transport if Sydney is going to reach its potential.”
