Sydney council releases a personalised version of Monopoly

Article image for Sydney council releases a personalised version of Monopoly

A Sydney council has paid for it to have a specialised Monopoly game board made for its area.

Ku-ring-gai Council made the decision to spend ratepayers dollars to get the personalised game set.

It’s left Ben Fordham asking: Is this a good move for the residents, or a giant waste of money?

Liberal Member for Davidson – which covers the Ku-ring-gai area – Jonathan O’Dea tells Ben Fordham it’s not costing the ratepayers.

“The money [is] generated for a number of charities.”

But Ben presses the MP on who is paying for the board game.

Ben: “But if it’s not costing the ratepayers, who is paying for it?”

Mr O’Dea: “I pay for it when I buy a Monopoly set. Other people pay for it when they buy a Monopoly set.”

As for how much money was put into the game set, Mr O’Dea says it a question for the council.
