Sydney bus strikes: NSW government says it can’t get involved

The State Government is refusing to intervene in a dispute between unions and bus companies that’s left Sydney commuters disrupted by a strike.

More than 1000 drivers have walked off the job.

But Transport Minister David Elliott has told Jim Wilson it’s a matter between three private operators and the unions.

“There’s no way in the world the government would be in a position to interfere with these negotiations.

“When governments start interfering in disputes between employers and private employees it’s a very slippery slope.”
