Sydney Airport CEO Geoff Geoff Culbert says the recent job drive to fill airport vacancies was “really successful” but there’s still work to do.

To avoid further travel chaos, Sydney Airport is racing to fill 5,000 jobs in three weeks.

During the Easter period, travellers were queuing for hours as understaffed security and check-in area staff struggled to handle the mass number of people.

Hence, flights were delayed or cancelled due to the mayhem.

Mr Culbert told Ben Fordham there were over 4,000 people attending the fair in person and over 4,500 job applications filled out.

The CEO did admit there is still vacancies as individuals need to be “credited” to work at the airport.

“There’s training involved, so you’re talking about a lead time to those people coming online,” he said.

“We don’t expect all of those jobs to be filled in the next two weeks.”
