A Supercheap Auto worker has been stood down after a woman with a pram allegedly tried to steal from the Gold Coast store.

In a viral video, a staff member can be seen trying to grab a pram covered with a blanket.

He accused the woman with the pram of stealing and threatened to call the police, as the woman screamed “let my baby go”.

After a struggle ensued, a box was knocked to the ground from under the blanket.

Publican Fraser Short told Ben Fordham the worker deserves a promotion.

“He’s out there trying to make sure that theft doesn’t occur.

“What a hero – good on him!”
