Port Kembla has been revealed to have been the location the former Morrison Government had designated for a future nuclear submarine base.

The revelation has left Michael McLaren asking questions, especially for those who were and are opposed to the project.

“I’d ask the people of the Illawarra opposed to this to consider what they’d rather have at their disposal should Australia’s sovereignty ever be tested,” he said.

He points out that the world is witnessing an exponential rise in military powers, with the potential to threaten Australia.

“Australia will not be the instigator of a regional conflict, but we must be prepared to respond to one should others flick the switch,” he said.
