Des Hasler’s sacking as Manly Sea Eagles coach has shocked the rugby league community.

Nine News chief league reporter Danny Weidler told Mark Levy there has been a power struggle at Manly for a long time.

“Unless there are things I don’t know about with Des Hasler, I can’t answer why they have decided to do this.

“I’m struggling to comprehend this decision. Incoming coach Anthony Seibold will be walking into what I can only describe as a vipers nest.”

Former Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan, who is currently the coaching director of Papua New Guinea, told Mark Levy that Des Hasler has been a fantastic coach for a long time.

“One of things I love about Des is he has never changed, I have always admired him.”
