‘Stressed’ residents not coping with Beaches Link project uncertainty
The Beaches Link project has been paused, with speculation it may be ditched completely.
But the acquisition of homes to make way for the motorway has not stopped.
Jim Wilson said it was unbelievable how residents were being treated and it was totally unfair.
On Wednesday, a government valuer is expected at the home of Janet Cave, who is an 83-year-old Balgowlah Resident.
Ms Cave told Jim Wilson she was not coping with the uncertainty of the situation.
“We are quite stressed over the whole thing … they are not giving us a price for this place that will buy anything in this area,” she said.
“Now we have nowhere to go, we are not getting enough money to buy something similar with the money they are giving us.
“We put everything into it.”

Chris Minns, NSW Opposition Leader, told Jim Wilson ‘we need to do better’ for residents following Janet Cave’s story.
“What is Janet meant to think, that the government is not listening to them and is acting in almost like a blind democracy and not thinking about the consequences of their actions, it is just not fair,” he told Jim Wilson.
“I am particularly concerned that a valuer is going to go into a 90-year-old’s home tomorrow and threaten eviction when it looks like this entire project is not going anywhere.”
