Strathfield Council to put not-for-profit childcare buildings to tender

A not-for-profit childcare and OOSH at Strathfield are at risk of closing down, as the council plans to put the buildings to tender.

One Stop Childcare Centre and Homebush OOSH have been caring for hundreds of community children for decades, now families are worried about affordable child care in the area.

Emily Boon, Secretary of the Strathfield One Stop Childcare Centre (SOCCS) parents committee, will be bringing this issue up at tonight’s Strathfield Council meeting.

“Other private daycare providers can come in with millions of dollars and the council can charge them more for rent,” Emily told Deborah Knight about the tender.

“This will be reflected in the fees, which families won’t be able to pay.”
