Australian captain Steve Smith has pinpointed a moment of brilliance from Nathan Lyon on day one of the Ashes as the moment that swung the series in Australia’s favour.

Lyon ran out England batsman James Vince on the first day at The Gabba.

Speaking with Macquarie Radio after Australia’s emphatic 4-0 series win, the Compton-Miller medallist was asked if any single moment stood out in helping Australia gain the upper-hand.

“The moment that changed the game was a great piece of fielding from Nathan Lyon,” Smith said.

“The run out of James Vince at The Gabba was such a crucial moment.

“I thought that changed the whole series, to be honest with you.”
