The rugby league world has united for an emotional afternoon as South Sydney forward Jai Arrow lead his side out. Thanks to special rules from the NRL and support from rival clubs, Arrow will take the field for the opening seconds in the next two rounds to officially reach 100 games for the Rabbitohs before taking his place on the bench.
South Sydney CEO Blake Solly joined the Continuous Call team ahead of kickoff to share how the unique tribute came together and how Arrow reacted when he first heard the news.
“He was over the moon. He thought we were joking to start with, because he didn’t think that it would be possible to do it,” Solly said.
Despite the rapid physical toll of Motor Neurone Disease on his speech, Solly emphasized that Arrow’s trademark humour and spirit remain completely untouched in the sheds and on the team bus.
