Snake catcher Sean Key tells Warren Moore this snake season has been busier than normal, with his catchers receiving up to ten calls a day.

Sean puts the increase in call-outs down to growth in urban areas.

“Urban development is what I’m putting it down to. When excavators come in they tend to disturb the snake population that’s already there.

“Generally, that means they go into populated areas that are there already.”

Sean tells Warren when you see a snake there are a few important points to remember.

“Keep kids and pets away from the snake, stay as calm as you can. If you can, keep an eye on the snake.

“My advice would be to call a professional. 85-90% of people who are bitten are trying to catch it or kill it, so don’t approach any snake.”
