Silverchair’s Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou have no regrets about their controversial memoir

Icons of Aussie music since they were teenagers, Silverchair split in the early 2010s. Over a decade later, Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou have released a tell-all memoir Love & Pain. about the band’s rise and fall.

The book has been a source of controversy, with Daniel Johns not approving nor contributing to the book, eventually resulting in episode one of Australian Story about Silverchair being taken down.

Despite this, Joannou and Gillies have no regrets about publishing the book, with the writing described as “cathartic” and an invitation to reunite with Johns.

“I found the book was a really cathartic process for myself. I definitely personally struggled with the situation the band found itself in,” Joannou told Deb, with Gillies agreeing it was a positive experience.
