It’s no secret cyclists on our roads are a divisive issue, but how would you feel if they were allowed to ride on our footpaths instead?

Bicycles NSW and Bicycle Network are appealing to the government to allow riders over 12-years-old to ride on footpaths.

Deborah Knight speaks with Kim Lavender from Bicycles NSW about the current laws and why there’s a push to move to footpaths.

“If you’re trying to push a 12-year-old onto a road, they have no idea what a road is like.

“We’ll also be pushing out an education campaign that will be targeted at cyclists, but also at pedestrians… So both sides know the ramifications if anything happens.”
