Should 16-year-olds be allowed to vote?

The CEO, Luke Rycken, of the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition and Former Howard Advisor Terry Barnes debated the topic of whether 16-year-olds should be allowed to vote.

Mr Rycken spoke with Chris O’Keefe on why believes 16-year-olds should be allowed to vote, versus Former Advisor Mr Barnes who disagrees.

“The reason we vote is so we can all have our say on the issues that matter to us and the direction of the country and 16 and 17-year-olds are affected every day by the decisions made by the government.”

Terry Barnes argues that  “most 16-year-olds have little experience in the wider world”.
