Short term rentals and Airbnb’s are impacting regional housing and making it hard to afford. 

Housing Researcher Nicole Gurran told Deborah Knight the issue is also now statewide, “It’s extremely difficult to rent a property now”.

Ms Gurran believes Airbnb’s have had an impact on the wants and demands of housing saying, “There needs to be proper control on the short term rental programs”.

“The place we need to get to is solving the underlying housing problems.”
