Shoplifting on the rise across NSW
Shoplifting is on the rise across the state according to an NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics quarterly update.
Theft from retail stores has increased by 6.5 per cent in the two years to June 2019.
The commonly stolen objects include alcohol, cosmetics, toiletries and clothing.
NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research acting executive director Jackie Fitzgerald tells John Stanley the majority of theft came from supermarkets, department stores and shopping centres.
“If you look at the objects people are stealing they are things that people can use themselves.”
