‘Shocking but not surprising’: Psychologist weighs in on rising assaults in schools

In a startling revelation, the number of assaults in New South Wales schools has surged 50% over the past decade, leading to calls for stronger disciplinary measures.
“Sadly, I’ve seen this train wreck coming for the last decade,” says leading child and family psychologist Clare Rowe, highlighting the lack of discipline in schools as a primary cause.
“If you’ve got kids literally assaulting each other to the point of police calling, we can’t put that just on teachers, what’s going on at home there?” questions Roe, addressing the need for a multifaceted approach.
