The City 2 Surf is the biggest race of its kind in the world.

Close to 80,000 people took part last year and this year’s event falls on Sunday 12 August.

One woman taking part this year is Connie Severino and she’s raising funds for the transplant unit at St Vincent’s Hospital.

Suffering from cystic fibrosis all her life, Connie underwent a double-lung transplant last year and now she wants to help the people who helped her.

Connie tells Alan she spent six out of nine months last year in hospital before getting the transplant.

Now, she’s training and preparing to raise funds for an important cause.

“The doctors, the surgeons, the hospital [they’re] the absolute best.”

She says she’s been walking, running and cycling to get ready.

Alan tells Connie he’ll donate $1,000 to her cause and you can donate too by clicking here.
