Shadow Treasurer ‘astounded’ by Stuart Ayres ‘jetting off’ overseas

NSW Shadow Treasurer Daniel Mookhey believes Stuart Ayres has shown poor judgment as he has flown overseas amidst John Barilaro’s inquiry.

Trade Minister Stuart Ayres signed off on a briefing that identified former senior bureaucrat Jenny West as the successful candidate for the trade position before she was effectively sacked from the position for John Barilaro but Minister Ayers claims that does not mean he signed off on her appointment.

Jim isn’t impressed.

“So while Mr Ayers continues to deny he’s done anything wrong or unethical, he’s decided it’s a good time to jet to India to stand side by side with Premier Perrottet to open up a new trade office,” Jim said.

Mr Mookhey told Jim Wilson he is avoiding questions he needs to answer.

“I’m astounded that he thought it was a good idea to join the Premier.

“He [Dominic Perrottet] doesn’t need Stuart Ayres there next to him cutting the ribbon.”
