The shadow Energy Minister has backed a state government inquiry into data centres which he says will set the pace for the rest of the nation

James Griffin says the inquiry will look at several points of interest, including whether Australia is ready to “extract the opportunities” the centres will present.

“I think it is fair to say objectively that certainly in New South Wales, we are in no state of readiness for the impact the data centres will have on the energy grid in this state,” he told Michael McLaren.
