Staff in the department of NSW Treasurer Matt Kean have taken a course in gender.

The lesson includes advice that it’s now inappropriate to say that “someone was born a male”.

Bureaucrats are being encouraged to use the terms “assigned male at birth” and “designated female at birth”.

The course also discourages using terms in the workplace like ladies, gentlemen, husband and wife.

“Don’t laugh it off, because you’re paying for it,” Ben said.
