The public prosecutor has been asked to review bail decisions for two paedophiles.

Ray Hadley raised concern yesterday as Neil Duncan and Robert Van Gestel are currently released on bail until sentencing.

After a push from Ray and listeners, Attorney General Mark Speakman has agreed to address community concerns by requesting the NSW Director of Public Prosecutions review the bail decisions for both convicted child sex offenders.

Ray Hadley has revealed two convicted paedophiles have been released on bail until sentencing, despite the risk they pose to the community.

A jury found Neil Duncan guilty following a four-week trial in the Queanbeyan District Court after he pleaded not guilty to 14 counts of sexually touching five girls aged between 10 and 16 between December 2018 and March 2021.

Robert Van Gestel has been convicted on eight charges of historical sex offences against three young children.

Both men were released on bail while they await sentencing, despite the nature of their convictions meaning they are certain to face jail time.

Ray is disgusted that the two are allowed out in the community.

“I thought that we lived in a far more sophisticated world given what we’ve heard from the Child Sexual Abuse Royal Commission,” Ray said.

Attorney-General Mark Speakman has said he will review transcripts of both bail hearings as soon as possible.
