Senator slams family law review as anti-dad
A Liberal Democrat Senator has accused the Australian Law Reform Commission’s review into the family law system of bias.
The review calls for the national family court to be abolished with control reverted back to the states and territories.
But Liberal Democrats Senator Duncan Spender, who replaced David Leyonhjelm at the federal level, says there is an issue in the review.
He tells Chris Smith that judges would no longer need to act on the presumption that it’s in the best interest of the child for parents to have shared responsibility.
“This review just seems like it’s got a massive agenda and it’s just keeping with the current fashion that dads are second rate.
“The presumption that seems to be dripping through family courts is that mums do a better job and the kids can get by with just their mums.”
