Senator condemns Uber and Facebook’s tax evasion scheme involving PwC

John Stanley

Senator Deborah O’Neil has commented on the revelations regarding Uber and Facebook’s use of PwC schemes to evade taxes in Australia.

O’Neil stressed the significance of the situation, as PwC is an assurance company that is fundamental to the market.

She explained that there will be a thorough examination of Allegro, the new company to which PwC sold their government division, to ensure it is not ‘PwC rebranded’.

“We’ve got 144 pages of emails that show that PWC were up to their eyeballs in creating a product basically to rip off the Australian taxpayers”, O’Neil said.

She continued, stating: “This isn’t a victimless crime”.
