A multi-agency operation is underway to ensure traffic is moving safely along the various detour routes following the Great Western Highway closure.

Sydney Now host Clinton Maynard says he’s come across social media posts of motorists overtaking illegally and a driver mounting the footpath in Lithgow.

“Lithgow’s not downtown Sydney, but this is still in the shopping area where there are pedestrians,” he said.
