NSW Secretary for the Health Services Union, Gerard Hayes is “pleased” with the wage rise for the public sector but admitted he will be pushing further.

Premier Dominic Perrottet announced today the wage cap will increase from 2.5 per cent to 3 per cent for public sector workers.

An extra 10-thousand staff are being recruited over four years, under a plan to help the struggling health system.

4.5 billion dollars is being put aside in the state budget.

Gerard Hayes told Jim Wilson the announcement today is a “welcome relief” for workers but the work isn’t done.

“This is a good job well done, but we need to look to the future.”
